Green Smoothie Delight

Drink Raw! Create a Green Smoothie

Advisory: Eat six vegetables and five portions of fruit a day. You will easily be able to do that when one of your daily drinks is a green smoothie. The benefit: raw is healing. One patient harvests vegetables from her organic garden each morning in August and adds these to locally grown fruit. The taste is fresher than fresh! She has sent this three year tested recipe for you to sample. The drink serves two. Adjust amounts when your breakfast guests want to join you. In a blender, add:

  • 4 leaves of swiss chard- if possible, with center stalks of white, red and yellow. Slice the leaves away from the stalks and add leaves in pieces to your chopper/blender along with:
  • 2 sprigs of parsley leaves (maybe enjoy with chopped stalks)
  • 1 small young cucumber-leave the skin on
  • ½ pear – pare off the skin (if sprayed)
  • ½ apple –pare off skin (if sprayed)
  • 1/2 avocado
  • Tsp of vanilla (optional -enjoy with or without)
  • ½ cup of water (alkaline if possible)
  • Variation: 4 leaves of kale or 7 small leaves of beets
  • ¼ peach- pare off skin (if sprayed)
  • ½ mango (no vanilla) with pear/apple – or–
  • ½ banana (once a month) with pear/apple pomegranate seeds (fresh and number as desired)

Drink between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.-  after 20 minute mile walk. Increase exercise day by day to 40 minutes or more. (Possible alternate is Yoga or Qi Gong. These practices are energizing!)
